SPECIAL TO THE NEWS
Nineteen-year-old LPGA Tour phenom Morgan Pressel announced the
formation of the Morgan and Friends Fight Cancer Tournament, to be
held at St. Andrew’s Country Club in Boca Raton Jan. 6-7, 2008.
The event will honor Pressel’s mother, the late Kathy Krickstein
Pressel, who lost her fight against breast cancer when Morgan was
just 15 years of age.
All of the net proceeds from the inaugural pro-am style event will
benefit the Lynn Cancer Institute’s Breast Cancer Center at
the Boca Raton Community Hospital, where Kathy was treated during
her courageous battle with the illness.
“I wanted to form an event that not only honored my mom, but
also helped to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer research
and the overall fight against this terrible illness,” Pressel
said.
Pressel, who earlier this year became the youngest player in history
to win a Major championship when she won the Kraft Nabisco Championship
at age 18, will be joined for her first annual Morgan and Friends
event by LPGA stars Paula Creamer and Brittany Lincicome, as well
as PGA Tour standout Luke Donald.
“With the help of my many great friends at St. Andrews Country
Club where I live, and the support of IMG, Paula, Brittany, Luke and
all of my great corporate partners at Ralph Lauren, Callaway Golf,
Audemars Piguet, Kapalua Resort and Gemesis, we have truly put together
a special couple of days,” said Pressel. “Our family and
friends lost an amazing woman in my mother, and I am determined to
do whatever I can to prevent the same thing from happening to others.”
