Delray Fatality
Delray Beach police are investigating a traffic accident Saturday at Lake Ida Road and Congress Avenue that killed one person.
The victim was identified as Esther Hasson, 89, of NW 18th Street, Delray Beach.
Police said two cars collided head-on at the intersection just after 10:45 a.m. Public Information Officer Jeff Messer said a 1991 Honda Accord and a 1994 Toyota Camry collided.
Witnesses said the Honda was eastbound on Lake Ida Road and attempted to make a left turn onto northbound Congress Avenue, turning into the path of the Camry.
Hasson, driver of the Honda, was taken to Delray Medical Center for treatment of broken ribs and internal injuries, police said. While under evaluation there, Messer said, her condition deteriorated and she was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m.
The 47-year old male driver of the Camry not hurt.

Window Smashed
A Boca Raton resident told police March 12 that someone smashed the front passenger side window of her car and stole her purse contained a driver’s license and spare key, said police.
Shoplifting Arrest
Boca Raton police arrested a woman at Macy’s Department Store in the Town Center at Boca Raton mall about 10:20 p.m. March 12 and charged her with shoplifting. She allegedly tried to steal clothing worth nearly $120, police said. She was later released on her own recognizance with a notice to appear in court.
Tire Slashed
A student at Lynn University reported to police March 12 that someone slashed the right rear tire of his car, police said.
Laptop Taken
Boca Raton police said a local woman reported the theft of a laptop computer and the case from her car March 12, said police.
