House struck
A motorist crashed his SUV into a house on West Palmetto Park Road
in Boca Raton about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
A report said Lesley Turnier, 58, was heading east when he apparently
suffered a medical problem that caused him to lose control. The house
he struck, at 838 W. Palmetto Park Road, is undergoing renovations.
Police said the vehicle was towed out of the house after causing
some $30,000 damage.
The accident remains under investigation, police said, and no charges
have been filed.
Hotel Fraud
Boca Raton police arrested a man Jan. 16 and charged him with obtaining
food and lodging with intent to defraud, a report says. The suspect
allegedly stayed at a local hotel, then checked out on Jan. 4 without
paying his bill that police said totaled $7,408.
Watch Stolen
A Delray Beach woman told Boca Raton police Jan. 16 that someone
stole her diamond watch worth more than $24,000. She told police she
was having surgery done at a Boca Raton clinic when the theft occurred.
The report said she told police she put the watch in her purse, which
was being held by a friend during the operation, police said.
Co-workers Attack
A Boca Raton man told police that two former co-workers tried to
attack him while he was sitting in his car just after 11 a.m. Jan.
16. He said one of them kicked the side of his car, causing a dent.
One of the men told police that the man in the car had stolen files
from his company. All three signed refusal to prosecute documents,
police said.
Wallet Stolen
A Pennsylvania woman told Boca Raton police Jan. 16 that a suspect
stole a wallet out of a purse while she was shopping at a local market.
The said the wallet was valued at $12, police said.
