HELEN ELIZABETH SLATER TRAVASOS
BOCA RATON
Helen Elizabeth Slater Travasos passed away peacefully in her sleep
January 8, 2008, at St. Andrews Estates in Boca Raton, FL. Born September
9, 1915 in Lake Forest, Illinois, Helen and her late husband of 69
years, John W. Travasos, retired USN CPO, lived a life of proudly
representing their country whether it was in the United States Navy
or in their many travels with United Technologies in the United States
or overseas in Turkey, Beirut, Algiers, London and Paris. Helen enjoyed
knitting, embroidery, painting, sewing, letter writing, journaling,
baking and growing violets. Helen is survived by her daughter, Nancy
E. Cox of Denver, Colorado; son, Albert J. Travasos and daughter-in-law
Eileen, of Boca Raton, FL; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren;
her sister Kay Moore, Pensacola, FL; and brother Ed Slater, New Port
Richey, FL. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, January
12th at the Chapel of St. Andrews Estates South, 6045 Verde Trail
S., Boca Raton, FL. Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
