Palm Beach County commissioners have approved $5,000 to help offset costs for the 2008 Delray Beach Sister Cities Safari Dinner held last month at the Delray Beach Golf Club and Restaurant.
Proceeds from the dinner benefited the Baobab Library Book program; proceeds will also assist with travel expenses for Delray Beach educators traveling to Moshi, Tanzania, this year.
Delray Beach and Moshi, Tanzania formed a binding relationship as Sister Cities when the charter creating the official affiliation was signed in early 2001, said commissioners. This year a group of Delray Beach teachers from area schools plan to visit Moshi. Fundraisers such as the Twilight Safari Dinners help offset the travel costs, commissioners said.
Funding comes from the District 7 Recreation Assistance Program (RAP) fund.
