County gives $10,000 for West Boca Youth Baseball

Palm Beach County commissioners have approved $10,000 for help offset the cost of uniforms for the West Boca Youth Baseball program. 

The West Boca Youth Baseball program is for boys and girls from tee-ball age to 16 years old, and is affiliated with PONY Baseball/Softball, Inc. The organization is a recreational league, commissioners said, and involves approximately 500 youth.

Funding will come from District 5 Recreation Assistance Program (RAP) funds.

Worldwide, more than 2.7 million kids are involved in Little League Baseball® and Softball, and there are more than 7100 Little League programs in 82 countries.

Other Business

In other recent business commissioners:

  • Approved a $7,000 agreement with Expanding and Preserving Our Cultural Heritage, Inc. (EPOCH) to help offset costs for EPOCH’S Kids Cultural Club programs at the Spady House Cultural Heritage Museum and the Delray Full Service Center.  Approximately 300 children and youth participate in these programs, commissioners said, and funding will come from District 7 Recreation Assistance Program (RAP) funds.
  • Approved a $5,000 agreement with The Lake Worth Playhouse, Inc. for funding of 2008 at-risk children program funding. This programming serves approximately 35 at-risk children that attend the Lake Worth Empowerment Center, commissioners said.  Funding comes from the District 7 RAP fund. 
  • Approved a $10,000 agreement with Palms West Chamber of Commerce, Inc. for funding of the SalsaFest Event, held at Greenacres Community Park on November 3, 2007. Funding will come from the District 2 RAP fund.  Commissioners said approximately 7,500 persons participated.
Approved a $10,000 agreement with Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, Inc. for funding of the Artist Studio Restoration and Archives Preservation Project.  Commissioners said the funding would assist with restoring the artist studio and preserving archives.  Approximately 4,000 people visit the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens and Artist Studio annually, said commissioners.
