Delray Beach has an affordable housing ordinance.
Now, it wants to create an affordable housing advisory committee.
The city has put out a call for “enthusiastic individuals” willing to serve the panel. City Commissioners, who adopted an ordinance April 1 to create the committee, said its purpose will be to recommend monetary and/or non-monetary incentives for building affordable homes.
According to its rules, the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee will hold at least two meetings a month throughout the year.
The committee is to be made up of 11 members who are actively engaged in the following trades: residential home building industry, banking or mortgage banking industry; home building in connection with affordable housing; advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing; a for-profit provider of affordable housing; a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing; a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing; a local planning agency member; a citizen who resides within the jurisdiction; one citizen who represents employers and one citizen who represents essential services personnel as defined in local housing assistance plan.
Applications are available at the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 100 NW 1st Ave., Delray Beach, or can be downloaded from the City’s website, www.mydelraybeach.com, by selecting the department City Clerk.
