The suspect accused of firing two shots during a party in a residence hall at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton early Wednesday has been ordered held on $35,000 bail by a Palm Beach County judge.
Judge Nancy Perez ordered Omar Everton Graham Jr., 23, of Royal Palm Beach, held on charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery and possession of a weapon on school property, according to police.
FAU police said a fight broke out at the party about 1:15 a.m. They said Graham took out his gun and cocked it in what he said was an attempt to scare the men involved in the altercation. The gun went off twice, with the bullets hitting a wall and a kitchen counter, according to police.
FAU authorities quickly locked down the campus, barricading all entrances and ordering live-in students to stay inside. All classes and on-campus activities were cancelled Wednesday.
The lockdown was lifted after the suspect was located at Johnson & Wales University in North Miami, where he is a student. Campus staff recognized him from a surveillance photo released by FAU.
